How much better will a full 1080p Plasma tv look than a 720p at 46 and 50 inches?

46 plasma
11/2/10 We Have the House asked:

Returning my Panasonic TC-P46C2 TV, as i can get it for less than the $499 i bough it for (I can for $450.) If i get financing, i can even get the 50″ 1080p Panasonic Viera, the Panasonic TC-P50U2 50 Inch 1080p if I get approved.

How much “Better” will the 1080p look on a 50 inch than 720p, particularly with this brand?

And is there anywhere else i can get “6 month financing” on this TV? Amazon.com sells it for $899, the 50″ 1080p. I can get the 46″ 720p for half that, which i have and paid $500…

Which one, and why?

I find it’s more a matter of preference. LCD seems to be whomping the pants off of plasma nowadays, so I think that’s what I’d go for.

Of course, you’re also comparing apples and oranges…1080p vs 720p. 720 is going to be fine for most viewing, so the question is to compare the two side-by-side and wonder if it’s worth the cost.

You’ll notice the biggest differences in non moving pictures, like a person that is sitting, or something in the background: the detail at 720 wont be a clear. Once you hit about 42inches of screen size, you’ll start to see the difference between 720 and 1080. If you are going to be closer to the screen than suggested, get the 1080. “suggested distance” is usually about 2.5 times the screen size. If you have or are going to blu-ray, they are all 1080 anyways, so might as well go for 1080.
